Who We Are

We are students who attend North Point High School in Waldorf, Maryland. We participate in VEX competitions because we like to engage ourselves, enhance our leadership skills, and explore the various sides of computer science, which resulted in many friendships being built along the way. Our VEX Robotics club is an extracurricular that is open to and made up of diverse students from our school. Our goal is to make VEX a welcoming club, build on our experiences, expand our knowledge, and encourage anyone with an interest in STEM to come and join us. We currently have four teams that compete in the VEX Robotics competition being 899A, 899B, 899C and 899D.

Our Beginnings

The North Point High School Vex Robotics Team was established in 2008 by former Electronics teacher Ms. Janet Bondelid, and has since been run by Mr. Timothy “Oh Great One” Yauch. We began with one team, and have since increased to two teams in 2012, and three teams in 2018. This year we have four teams competing in the Vex Robotic Competition (VRC), and two are comprised of “Girl Powered” inspired, all-female teams.

Our Coaches

With the devotion and commitment of our brilliant coaches, we have achieved more than what we ever thought possible. Thanks to the assistance and guidance of Mr. Timothy Yauch, Mr. Allan Chapman, Mr. O, and Mr. Clause Bramer, we became the highly accomplished, collaborative, dedicated VEX club we are today. Mr. Timothy Yauch, our extensively knowledgeable Electronics teacher gives us the prompting we require to think our way out of any problem or situation. Mr. Allan Chapman is our master in all things CADD, Inventor, and Autodesk. He is the man to see when designing anything on a computer. Mr. O is our administrative help, he can find any part we’re looking for in a matter of minutes and he also makes sure we always have everything we need, so progress never halts. Mr. Clause Bramer, otherwise known as our “miracle worker,” always finds a path around any obstacle that gets in our way, and devotes lots of his time and passion as a volunteer to aid our endeavors.

Our Sponsors

With the help of our sponsor, the STEM coordinator for Charles County Ms. Simone Young, we are able to attend many competitions this year. She always makes our needs her priority and is ready to lend a helping hand whenever the need arises. She is just as passionate about VEX as we are, and her passion never ceases to excite and inspire us. We are so grateful to have her on our side during the trials and tribulations we endure over the course of our season.
